Roche Gets Food and Drug Administration OK for Improved HIV Test
April 11, 2003 Swiss manufacturer Roche Holding AG said Friday the US Food
and Drug Administration has cleared an improved test to measure
viral levels in the blood of HIV/AIDS patients. The test is
designed to amplify and detect genetic material, allowing for the
accurate measurement of even small amounts of virus. "The Cobas
Amplicor HIV-1 Monitor Test (version 1.5) will allow laboratories
to delivery quality HIV viral load tests in a shorter time,
thanks to cutting edge automation," said Heino von Prondzynski,
head of Roche Diagnostics.
