PLoS Articles Discuss Simple CD4 Testing in Developing Countries

  • "A Microchip CD4 Counting Method for HIV Monitoring in Resource-Poor Settings," PLoS Medicine: William Rodriguez of Harvard University and colleagues discuss the development of a prototype system that uses a simple, rapid and affordable method for counting CD4 cells (Rodriguez et al., PLoS Medicine, 7/19). Zvi Bentwich, a professor of medicine at Hebrew University Medical School in Israel, in an accompanying "Perspectives" piece examines the feasibility of CD4 measurements in developing countries (Bentwich, PLoS Medicine, 7/19).
