$2.8 Million Grant to Fund Study of HIV in Women
July 7, 2003 A $2.8 million federal grant will help Dr. Susan Cu-Uvin study how HIV infection acts in the female genital tract. The grant finances five years of research by Cu-Uvin, who is director of the Samuel and Esther Chester Immunology Center at Miriam Hospital in Providence, R.I. The money was awarded to the hospital's center for AIDS research, a collaboration between Tufts University and Brown University. It is one of 19 such federally funded centers located at academic medical centers throughout the nation. The center has $43 million in federal funding this year.
