Massachusetts: Raising Money to Fight AIDS

May 26, 2005

June 5th will mark the 20th anniversary of AIDS Action's AIDS Walk Boston. Organizers hope to harness the energy of the first walk by resurrecting its official name -- "From All Walks of Life" -- for this year's event. The six-mile walk will start and finish at the Hatch Shell, where following the walk there will be a health fair. Prior to the walk, people have the option of participating in a 5K fundraising run. The walk has raised a total of about $30 million throughout its history, hitting a fundraising peak of $2.3 million in 1992. In recent years, it has averaged about $1 million in donations.
