The Wells Fargo Foundation and Community Development Group has awarded a $100,000 grant to Working Wonders of Cathedral City. For the last eight years, Working Wonders has provided services -- including case management, medical referrals and food -- primarily to women and children affected by HIV, though men are also served. Some 3,500 Coachella Valley residents have received assistance from the organization in the past two years. The group's board will meet to decide how best to allocate the new funds, said Evelyn Hernandez-Valentino, the organization's leader. "We [have] been seeing so many more clients and newly infected HIV clients walking through our door. We see a lot of clients ask for just the basics: food, shelter, clothing," she said.
