Merck Gets EU Gardasil Recommendation
July 31, 2006 On Friday, Merck & Co. announced that the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use has recommended that the European Commission approve Merck's HPV vaccine Gardasil for females ages 9-26. If approval is granted, Merck plans to sell Gardasil in Europe through Sanofi Pasteur MSD, its joint venture with Sanofi Pasteur, Sanofi-Aventis SA's vaccine division. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration in June licensed the vaccine for use in females ages 9-26.
