Pfizer Tries to End Canada-USA Drug Flow
August 7, 2003 Pfizer said Wednesday that it would cut off its products to
Canadian pharmacies selling drugs at a discount to US consumers.
Following a trend started by GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, the world's
largest drug maker, on Monday sent pharmacists a letter saying
the company would sell drugs by Pfizer and its recently acquired
subsidiary, Pharmacia, directly rather than through wholesalers
and distributors. That way it can track where its drugs are sold.
Pharmacies that resell to U.S. consumers will be cut off.
