hallo, i know that i have hiv 2 years and taken medicine for it. i am afraid to died , is it possible that the medicine are not work anymore? some times i take my pills 15-30 minutes early beacause when i go to visite friends they don t know about it.

Response from Dr. Horwath

You are doing the right thing by taking your medicine regularly. Taking it a few minutes early will not affect your response to the medicine. It is understandable that you want to take the medicine before going to meet friends.

There is no reason to believe that the medicine is not working. If you have access to a laboratory that does viral load tests, you can ask your doctor to order this test for you. By checking your viral load, you will have a very good idea as to how well your medicine is working. If you don't have access to a lab, then the best information is the state of your health. If you do not have symptoms and have not been ill, then this is a good indication that the medicine is working. If you still have doubts, then speak to your doctor about how you are doing.
