HCV-RNA by Real Time PCR (Abbott m2000)
Jul 27, 2008
I am 60 years old. I did the blood analysis on April 04, 2008, my ALT (SGPT) was 23 and AST (SGOT) was 29. I did the PCR Test (HCV-RNA by Real Time PCR (Abbott m2000)) on July 20, 2008. The results are as follow:
Qualitative: Positive and the Ref. Range: Negative
Quantitative: 634,031 IU/ml and the Ref. Range: Negative
Comments: the detection limit of assay is 12 IU/ml
What does it means?
I appreciate your prompt response
Best Regards

Your test results indicate chronic HCV infection. Your viral load is over 634,000 international units (IU) and the lower limit of detection of this assay is 12 IU. So anything over 12 is considered positive. Your viral load is in the moderate range.
