Hi Dr Moyle, l am currently working as a nurse at a hiv medical centre in Australia, and l am hiv neg, l can not beleive the ammount of new cases of hiv people presenting for the first time into the clinic for treatment..l would say at least 60% per cent of the new cases are drug users who take meth or ice and are under 30 years old...

Dr Moyle l am worried the HIV virus will spread and become a major problem in main stream sociaty, we have 20,000 hiv infected people in australia now and l would say there are more who dont know they have the virus... the hiv virus will only keep spreading and who knows what the numbers will be like in 20 years time... my question is simple, can hiv really be cured ??? l know scientist have done so well with meds to keep people alive and well, l think its time to push goverments from all around the world to fund for a hiv cure...

The growth in the number of people with HIV remains disappointing across the globe and both individuals and governments have a role to play in preventing the transmission of HIV. The goal of eradication of HIV is an admirable one but also one that has stumped a large army of government and pharceutical scientists for the last 25+ years. Knowledge is, however, power and with disappointments we have also had a chance to learn more about HIV to generate new ideas. Researchers have not and I believe will not let up in the pursuit of the eradication goal. For now, however, prevention and antiretrovirals remain the best we can do, and the are both might good weapons in the fight aginst HIV Best Wishes Dr Moyle
